You can have nerve pressure and no pain; only a certain percentage of the nervous system detects pain.
That being you can have significant pressure on a nerve or nerves and not know it's there. Then one day you awake with pain or even something worse and say to yourself "hey I just got this problem today, but really the problem has been there for a long time.
So, the answer is to get Adjusted when you are hurting but get one to keep feeling good too. I personally would get adjusted very often and I was most often feeling good...
