How Does Stretching Help My Back?

Stretching may alleviate pain in the back.  It can do this for 3 reasons:
1) it keeps things loose and mobil - motion is a big key.  They often say "motion is life".  When an area moves like it should #'s 2 and 3 increase.
2) it increases blood flow - when an area can get more blood it can get all the nutrients it needs. Healing cells likes macrophages, and other white blood cells, water, and more.
3) it increases oxygen flow to the area - oxygen is a major player when it comes to healing.  Oxygen is known to heal and revitalize many tissues, muscle is just one of them.

These are the technical reasons it can help with back pain, but if you know it feels good, you'll most likely do it for that reason alone.
